Origin
This didn’t start with a silent frame. It started with a portrait that could talk: voice cloning, lip-syncing, memory… the whole spiel. I built it as a proof of concept, and it worked better than I thought it would.
And what stayed with me wasn’t the talking, but the moments in between — the presence.
So I shelved the talking version, and I’ve been building the quiet version for now.
What it’s meant to be
A digital photo frame, about ten inches, sitting on a shelf or a desk. Plugged in — a screen running all day needs power, there’s no way around that yet.
The difference is what’s on it. Send it a photo of yourself, or someone you love, and it becomes a portrait that moves. An app to set it up and change what’s on it. Presets included, if you’d rather start there.
And far more animation than you’ve seen here. The demo runs four; the library is a dozen and growing, with better logic behind when each one plays.
Development
I’ve spent the last year and a half building this alone — the software is largely there. What you just tried is real, and it works.
The frame itself isn’t a product yet. I’m working with a fabricator on a first working prototype, and I’m still at it most days.
